Licorice root extract to GOST 22840-77 is the base product of licorice processing, from which all further derivatives are obtained. It is a concentrated extract in the form of a thick, viscous brown mass.
The product has a characteristic sweet taste with a light astringency. One of its key parameters is the glycyrrhizic acid content: the mass fraction is 18–25 %.
Licorice root extract is the starting product in the licorice derivative range. More concentrated forms of glycyrrhizic acid and products based on it are obtained from it.
