Licorice root extract CGA — Crude Glycyrrhizic Acid
CGA (Crude Glycyrrhizic Acid) is a dry concentrated licorice root extract with a high content of crude glycyrrhizic acid. It is the next concentration step compared with the base licorice extract.
CGA is a crystalline powder whose colour ranges from light brown to dark brown. The product contains 45–55 % of glycyrrhizic acid.
CGA is a concentrated extract, yet along with glycyrrhizic acid it retains other impurities. For this reason the product is used as an intermediate raw material for further processing.
The main application of CGA is the production of glycyrrhizinate salts. Its high glycyrrhizic acid content makes it a suitable feedstock for further derivatives.
