Yarrow
Yarrow essential oil has a complex herbaceous profile that may combine camphoraceous, bitter, green and floral-balsamic shades. Some chemotypes show a bluish colour from azulene compounds, which sets the product further apart from standard essential oils.
In niche perfumery yarrow is interesting as a material for wild botanical, herbal and aromatic compositions. It can give a formula the effect of wild-growing herbs and a dry natural texture, especially alongside lavender, sage, coniferous and woody notes.
In cosmetics the oil is used mainly in natural and botanical concepts — soap, body products, oil blends and spa products. Because of pronounced chemotype variability, the developer should rely on the specification of the particular batch rather than on the plant name alone.
